Microsoft has released Internet Explorer 7 in beta form. As
always, Nimi
would recommend Mozilla's
FireFox for all your web browsing needs, but if you're brave and
want to see Microsoft's feeble attempt at a tabbed browsing solution
you can download
the BETA
and give it a test drive.
The hard working folks at MEPIS
have just released SimplyMEPIS 6.0! If
you are looking to
try Linux, this is one of the easiest to use distributions ever
written, and it is Nimi's personal favorite. After some distro
hopping, I have decided to stay with MEPIS despite that they have
switched to an Ubuntu base. Nimi is not a fan of Ubuntu, but
MEPIS remains close to the Debian community, so it's still allright in
his book.
Nimi's
Collection of Useful (and Free) Software
In real life, when Nimi isn't playing computer games or working on his
cool Crown Vic, he works as an IT Manager for a great little company in
Central Virginia. Getting paid to play with cool toys is where
it's at! Working
with computers so much, Nimi has found quite a number of helpful links
and great little tools floating around the internet that he hopes may
be as much help to you as they have been for him. Nimicron
is an avid supporter of Linux and the open-source community, and
encourages everyone to try new things and continue to learn about all
the neat stuff out there for computers. As
with all freeware/shareware/open source software, load and use anything
listed on this website at your own risk. Check back
often as this section is frequently updated with
new stuff!
As said above, Linux is a great OS and fast
maturing to the point where it is a viable alternative to Microsoft
Windows even for home and novice users. There are so many Linux
distributions out there to choose from that it can be confusing. Instead
of just picking one that looks cool in a screenshot or has an awesome
name, make sure you do some
reading to understand the basic differences. By doing your
homework ahead of time, you won't get caught off gaurd when performing
various tasks in Linux that are done much differently than in Windows.

four flavors are listed below:
